Introduction

This unpretentious and friendly resort is situated on a gentle slope facing the sea, with a secluded sandy beach and infinity pool. Proceeds from the holidays support the local orphanage.

Lodging

All rooms are ensuite, spacious and airy, each with a view of the sea or gardens. Sitting out on your patio for sunset is a truly wonderful experience. Wherever you stay at this resort the distant sound of the sea will lull you to sleep.

Meals are served in a large pavillion perched on the hilltop overlooking the sea.
Food is freshly prepared from local produce, mostly organic, whenever possible it's picked fresh from their own gardens. You can choose from the buffet, a range of vegetables cooked in different ways, followed by fruit and even dessert if desired.
Fish and seafood is provided directly from the fishermen's catch at their beach. Rhythmic chanting can often be heard as the heavy nets are pulled in and it is fascinating to see this being done, just like fishermen would have done for thousands of years in this area.

Cultural entertainment is provided most evenings with music or a performance of the stunning art of Kathakali dancing that's unique to Kerala.

Location

In Kerala you are in 'God's own country' indeed. It's tropical, luscious and relaxing, following the natural rhythms of the sun and the waves. You can enjoy this secluded beach embraced by small cliffs either end, marvel at the open expanse of the sea, watch the fishermen haul in their nets, or relax under the sun umbrella and refresh with an occasional dip in the sea or large pool with bar. Or, after your Ayurvedic massages, simply hang out in your garden.

Nearest

...airport: Trivandrum airport, India. Airport transfers are included; flights are separate. A driver from the resort will collect you whatever time you arrive. The journey takes only about 40 minutes depending on traffic. Please note: your outbound flight will depart the day before the day of arrival due to time difference and journey time (return flight usually arrives back the same day).
Before booking your flights please check availability and confirm your booking with us.
If you arrive in the early morning hours you will need to pay for that night.

...swimming facilities: infinity swimming pool in the gardens or stretch of sandy beach.

...shops: you can take a tuk-tuk to some local shops or to a traditional Indian village about 10 min drive.

...restaurants: full board is provided so there is no need for other restaurants. Though Kovalam's Lighthouse Beach, about 20 min by tuk-tuk, provides a vast choice of Indian and fusion restaurants.

...other attractions: nearby temple; watching the sunset from the cliff edge or the beach. We highly recommend a half day backwater trip in a punt boat (avoid engined boats for romantic and ecological reasons).

Ayurveda

This resort focuses on offering professional Ayurveda treatment packages. The qualified staff prescribe treatments for each guest individually, including head, face and body oil massage; herbal or steam baths; special herbal medicines and elixirs, and personally recommended food.

This resort offers female doctors and massage therapists for females which we find is much appreciated by female guests. There are male doctors and massage therapists available for men.

Ayurveda treats the body, mind and spirit of a person as a whole entity, and works on the basis that the mind and body affect each other and together can overcome disease and strengthen the immune system. It can complement modern medicine. A one- or two-week programme can be very beneficial for general rejuvenation or a gentle detox. Allow two weeks or more for deeper health benefits. More on Ayurveda.

The Ayurveda Treatment package includes consultations with an Ayurvedic doctor and a range of individually prescribed treatments: daily massages, wraps, herbal baths, steams, optional acupuncture, remedies, etc. Between 2 to 3 hours of treatments daily.

Yoga sessions are optional and offered daily overlooking the sea at sunrise, from 6:45am - 7:45am and at sunset, from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. The style is Hatha Yoga: The practice incorporates yoga poses with breathing, relaxation and meditation. Beginners and all levels of experienced Yogis are welcome.
One Yoga session is included for those taking the Ayurveda package; a second class can be taken for an additional Eu 5 per class. For those not taking Ayurveda all Yoga sessions cost Eu 5 per person. Sessions last about 1 hour.

Meals are vegetarian and there are a range of freshly cooked dishes that can be chosen from the buffet. Meat and fish dishes can be ordered a la carte if desired and will be charged for separately.

The resort is actively involved on a day to day basis with their charitable work which includes two local orphanages with schools for girls and boys, a children's healthcare clinic, education for women as well as providing food, medical care and pensions for the elderly.
Any guests wishing to make further donations during their holidays are most welcome.

This resort cooperates and lives in harmony with the local fishermen and employs local staff.
