Introduction

Tala Beach Retreat in Sri Lanka is a tranquil haven by the Indian Ocean, just over 2 hours from Colombo airport.

This lovely 2 km stretch of private beach offers a truly relaxing, discrete and romantic getaway. The azure, warm sea is almost always mirror-calm and welcoming from November to April.

There are no other hotels or restaurants around and the only other people you will meet on the beach will be the local fishermen.

This is a perfect spot for dolphin and whale watching, snorkeling over nearby spectacular coral formations, deep-sea fishing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, kite and windsurfing.

Tala Beach Retreat is open all year round. However, from May to October it can be windy and rainy and most of the time the sea is too rough to take the boat out.

Lodging

Accommodation is arranged in a cluster of six garden compounds.

There are only four open-style single-roomed wattle and daub cabanas, and two double-roomed villas.Plus three beach houses a few hundred metres away.

This means the Retreat is very peaceful. However as accommodation is so limited, and to avoid disappointment, we recommend you book as early as possible.
