Simply enter the nearest big city (or airport) to where you want to go in order to get the current weather, 5-day forecast, extended forecast or seasonal weather averages (inc average sunshine and rainfall). You can even set up a monitor to keep a check on the weather at your chosen destination.

Your best bet for finding the cheapest deal that is right for your needs is by using one of the price comparison sites where you can request some of your criteria to narrow down your choice. Though we would highly recommend you read the small print carefully (see our tips below) and check reviews of your selected providers.

Our Tips:
1) make sure you get comprehensive travel and medical insurance, check for any exclusions and make sure you're happy with the excess;
2) make sure your policy covers you for all the activities you want to undertake;
3) annual cover usually works out cheaper if you are planning on two or more trips (worldwide or Europe).
